The French designer and pioneer of luxury luggage in the 19th century, was born on August 4, 1821 in Anchay, France. Son of a peasant and mother craftsman who was dedicated to the production of hats.
At the age of 16, Vuitton decided to move to the city of light, where he started working as a trunk maker for Romael Marechal who designed luggage for guests of the hotel "Le Meurice".
In 1854 the designer became independent and opened his first shop in Paris at 4 rue Neuve-des-Capucines, becoming one of the leading brands of the nineteenth century, and later a supplier of luggage Eugenia de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III, a fact crucial to its commercial growth in Europe and the world.

His passion for travel, design, providing his clients with comfort and elegance when travelling, to transport their personal objects, led the French designer to create in 1859 "El Atelier" a workshop where handbags and leather suitcases were made by hand and where his children grew up. The workshop has been expanded over the years.
Thanks to the quality of his work and the exclusivity of his designs, the French designer became a reference point for 19th century leather goods, giving way to the opening of a new shop in London in 1885.

The Tumblr Lock
In 1886 Louis Vuitton and his son George turned the trunks into luxury and security pieces for travelers through the "Tumblr Lock", a unique locking system with two spring buckles. This was patented in the revolutionary system, and was so efficient that the American Illusionist Harry Houdini was challenged to escape from a trunk with the designer's lock, however the designer did not accept the challenge, however the effectiveness of the lock is imminent and remains in the designs today.
At Asnières-sur-Seine Louis Vuitton leaves a legacy of elegance and sophistication in his pieces. His son continued his steps, but did not continue with the company, as its success was such that decades later it had 225 workers.
In 1896, George Vuitton designed the "Lona Monogram", his father's initials with which he sought to differentiate himself from other brands, even though at that time only royalty used them.
Today the company belongs to the French conglomerate LVMH, formed in 1897 by two major fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Moet Hennessy and whose presidency is held by the French businessman Bernanrd Arnault. Over the years it has positioned itself as one of the most exclusive luxury brands in the world and has 445 stores in 62 countries.
Paris Fashion Week: Autumn-Winter 2020
In the middle of a recreated scenography with more than 200 characters dressed in garments from the 15th century to the 1950s, the designer Nicolas Ghesquiere, presented the autumn-winter 2020 collection, merging different periods and cultures in which the "outwear" garments stood out.
Coats, jackets alluding to the eighties, biker jackets and blazers with which the designer aims to satisfy all styles. On the other hand, "the monogram", one of the most emblematic symbols of fashion, is still in force in each of the brand's designs through the classic bags, shoes and garments. For sure
a collection that consecrated its concept through its designs forming a line of time, between the past, present and future. Do you llike it? We love it !!
