In 1921, the French designer Gabrielle Chanel undertakes a new revolution beyond the feminine closet, with the launch of this fragrance, contained in a geometric bottle with a simple black and white label.

"Gabrielle Chanel is above all an artist of life. Her dresses, her perfumes are created with a perfect dramatic instinct. The No. 5 is like a soft music that extols a love scene. It unleashes the imagination and leaves an indelible mark on the actors' memories".

The famous fragrance has been promoted for a century through different versions with different muses and celebrities. Marilyn Monroe was one of the most iconic. For the 100th birthday, the French house chose an elegant woman and icon of French cinema: Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard is a French actress, singer, model, composer, and songwriter who won the Oscar, BAFTA, César and Golden Globe awards for her performance of Edith Piaf in the film La vie en rose. Piaf, another icon of French culture and art.

A dance on the lunar surface around golden shades is the dream that Chanel offers inside the mini movie created around the fragrance N 5. tThe golden dress with which Marion Cortillad dances is a timeless dress designed and worn by Gabrielle Chanel. A stunning lace masterpiece, embroidered with needles by Maison Lesage, in a golden hue that recalls the eternal radiance of the fragrance.

Its creation dates back to a 1921 alliance between the French-Russian perfumer Ernest Beaux and the Coco and its name is the main subject of debate among historians and enthusiasts. The version that it was christened with the number of the show that Chanel liked the most or the story that she offered about the reasons why five was her lucky number are some of the rumors disproved by Lelièvre's research.

In this case, perfume lovers, based on a high proportion of roses and jasmine, will have to assume that there are multiple possibilities about the choice of the name because the reality remains a mystery.

The 100th anniversary of this perfume icon will be the perfect occasion for the French house to celebrate in style as it has always done. Happy Birthday No. 5 !
